Satsu
_ I frowned at the cloak handed to me. It was a dark blue, made
of silk. Quite durable, but also quite noticeable. I looked up at my boss and
narrowed my eyes.
“You do realize that I could be caught immediately with this, right? You do realize I’m going into the Human realm, where they wear really short shorts and low tank tops, or baggy clothes, or jeans and jackets?” I sighed. Honestly, I was quite annoyed, and trying to keep my composer. Today wasn’t a very good day for me. My boss, stroking his black goatee, shrugged.
“You are quite thoughtful of this, aren’t you, Satsubatsu?” he tried to take the cloak back, but I yanked it away.
“It’s Satsu, and I’ll be taking this.” I sniffed, turning away. I walked calmly down the hall until I was out of sight, then I skipped outside. The brisk cold of the Ice Realm nipped at my nose. Rain fell softly, and I held my hand out to touch it. Gosh, it was so wonderful! This was so wonderful!
Running, I escaped into a field, where Migoto lay. Her long, purple tail swished. She was a beautiful dragon – and we were going on an adventure! After so many years, they finally trust me with saving someone, not killing! I reached into my satchel and pulled out a long scroll. Drawing it out, I set it down on the ground and studied it. At the top, in my boss’s messy scrawl, was the name Kaley Ann Caladin. Below was her life story, her every thought, an invisible source carefully scrawling her immediate thoughts. I checked her location and looked up at Migoto, who was staring at me carefully.
“What are we doing now?” she sighed. 20 years must seem like a week to her, apparently. Shoving the scroll into my satchel, I climbed onto her back and grabbed her fur.
“We’re going to save the banned princess of the ice realm,” I explained carefully. Migotot let out and annoyed sigh and, with a push, we were shoved into the air. I gasped as we lifted into the sky. Hurriedly, I put the cloak on and pulled the hood up, bowing my head as the rain smacked into the material. Surprisingly, it was quite warm, the material so durable that I didn’t feel a thing. I was shocked at the durability… Was this actually silk? It couldn’t be!
I lifted my head slightly, looking below us as farms sped by. The sound of wind swallowed up every other noise. Holding my breath, I stared up ahead, the world vibrating softly.
“Ready?” Migoto yelled over the sound. My mouth was dry as we picked up speed. I nodded.
“GO!” I screamed, burying my face in her fur as everything was silenced.
We were floating.
When I looked up, it was a mix of all of the realms. Trees, ponds, water, snow and fire licked at us. Everything was vibrating, shaking, and out of reach. My pulse quickened, my breath became shallow, as everything began to spin. No one, except dragons and the creatures of the realms, were allowed to pass. This would be the death of me…
If, you know, I was still alive.
Migoto dived into the Human Realm, humidity and heat swallowing us. It was delicious, being able to breathe. I shot up and gasped the air, letting my head roll back and my eyes close. Going to the Human Realm was very, very special. Most people in Ephemeral died long before they could get to the Human Realm yet, being the founder of the corporation, I was, well… immortal.
Which totally defeats the purpose.
Migoto landed a while away from Royal Kaley, so I tugged the scroll out. I began reading, and almost shrieked when I looked at the bottom. Instead, I whimpered.
“What?” Migoto groaned into my ear, her snout peeking over my shoulder. I shrieked in anger and shook the scroll.
“She found her way into TOWN!” I cried.
This was going to be a disaster.
